...okay so how do I convert AIF files to MP3?

is there anyway to do it on iTunes?

Just pop them into itunes.
In the prefences, click on the importing icon and
change the 'import using' to mp3 encoder..
Then highlight the file in your itunes window and
under the 'advanced' drop down menu at the top
click 'convert selection to mp3'
It ussually ends up in the itunes library but you
might have to do an applle/f search to locate it..
