So, as of now, the only file types I can save
with are template, cakewalk bundle, midi file,
and a couple other extensions that are like that.
How do I save a file as an mp3 or wav? I've been
told before you just use the dropdown menu, but
nothing is there that I can use.

Use the export in your software to do this. After
your final mix, make sure no tracks are
highlighted
or all are highlighted ( your preferance) and use
the export function to send your tune to a wave
or mp3.

if using Midi? well that is as easy as well. use
"add an audio track" and then use the in from
your sound card and bam you are turning a midi to
an audio track.

oh in cake walk a riff file is a wave file per
say, save as a riff and you can play it in your
system.

do not save as mp3. i repeat, do not save as mp3.
save as wav. then if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to use
mp3 for some reason like uploading to dmusic then
encode with lame. if you're just sharing it on
p2p then encode to flac or if file size is an
issue, ogg.
