Honestly, and this is constructive criticism and
not an attack, I think that if you want to convey
a semi-positive message to more than just a small
niche group of people you have to change the
vocabulary style of your lyrics and make them
more applicable to people that don't already know
about these urban problems. The people that live
in it already know and don't have to be reminded
about what is happening because they see it every
day. It would be more beneficial to aim at the
audience that is sheltered from it so they can be
educated and enlightened, but the repetition of
"nigga" and the egomaniacal swagger will
immediately pigeonhole you into the category of
"just another gangsta rapper" even though that
obviously isn't your goal. People will listen to
the first 10 seconds of a song or less and
determine if they want to listen to the rest or
not before more than 4 lines are rapped. If they
aren't able to immediately hear something unique
to pique their interest, you more than likely
won't succeed.
