DM Picks

Tommasta	Date: July 4, 2004 @ 3:55 PM The DM Picks in the "Other" section hasn't changes for MONTHS. or weeks, but whatever it's been a LONG TIME since anything has been done with it. change it? please?
Composer52403	Date: July 16, 2004 @ 9:23 AM I think updates come slowly around here. Kinda makes me wonder if I want to pay for the same quality of service I'm getting now as a non-subscriber. 'Tis a tangled web of indecision here. If I take out a subscription, it could make things better. On the other hand, it night not. I'm just not convinced yet.
pog	Date: July 16, 2004 @ 10:50 AM Well, the way I see it, a subscription costs only a little more than a few cups of coffee, and this place has evolved an incredible amount in the 2 years or so that I've been here.... it's all about the community that frequents this place. I know people that have invested a hell of a lot of time and effort into keeping this place going, and yet you're complaining that you're experiencing bad service for free???. It's been mentioned many times that the charts systems are in need of and will be upgraded in the future... it's also been said heaps of times that until it is, the best music is found by looking for it yourself.... I'm a fairly active member, and I havn't heard of or met either of you guyz yet ? Now go to the home page and you'll see that there's 16297 artists accounts on dmusic..... each one has a minimum of 75 megs of upload space, and more for subscribers. According to my calculations, this works out to a little over a Terabyte of information..... now consider the costs behind hosting something of this size, and your 2-3 cups of coffee kinda pales in significance when compared to the bigger picture. Call me old fashioned, but I think that maybe looking in the bins, and posting in the promotional forums about how cool someones music is would be a much more constructive approach, don't you ?
djfacemachine	Date: July 16, 2004 @ 2:02 PM hi peoples. dmusic is a really really really great place, i promise whether or not you choose to subscribe though is completely up to you, but just remember that what makes this place is the community. interacting with people will most definitely get you the attention you desire when it comes to people listening to your tracks and giving you feedback. just remember, the people here are friendly and socializing is fun you're right that there are a lot of updates that could be implemented, but you also have to keep in mind that the people who run dm are literally swamped with things to do. just maintaining the site as it is right now is work enough, not to mention all the things that could be done to make it even better. but if you ask me, dm is pretty damn good just as it is you've got a great community of support filled with people who are willing to let you bounce ideas off them and will give you their honest opinion. i know since i've been here i've gotten the opportunity to talk to a lot of really great people and i wouldn't trade that for anything. so, yes. i am a subscriber. most of the reason i subscribed was just to show my support. i was saying to dm: "yes dm. i do heart you. have my 4 dollars. 4 dollars is nothing compared to all that you have done for me." the other part of my reason for subscribing was because i want to do whatever i can for dm and to me, 4 bucks out of my pocket isn't that big of a deal and if that 4 dollars can make a difference... sure! take it! so that's all i have to say. i hope you don't think poorly of dm and realize that the people running this place want you to be happy and are always open to suggestions about how they can make things better for you. fu-dog put it best when he said: "If it's solvable and you grant me enough time, i will do whatever i can to fix it. A brash generalisation, yes, but wholly true."

djfacemachine	Date: July 19, 2004 @ 1:32 PM dm picks isn't SUPPOSED to change... for each genre there are "dm picks" and "the bin". i kind of see it like this: dm picks = varsity the bin = junior varsity ok, that being said, how it works is like this... when you join dm your tracks automatically go to the bin. if someone notices that you possess a lot of talent, then you get moved to dm picks. keep in mind that the ARTIST gets moved to dm picks and not just specefic songs. so, if an artists is a dm picks ALL of their songs become dm picks as well. once a pick, the songs get sorted in some sort of order based on some sort of formula that has SOMETHING to do with streams, downloads, etc. i hope that will help things start to make sense

If you've got particular picks you'd like to show up, you should probably assume that telepathy doesn't work as a way of suggesting them.

blubat	Date: July 21, 2004 @ 1:59 PM hey my song are dmpicks... Sinffle. why do you want to get rid of my songs... It takes a long time to change...somehow our song got to #1 and stayed htere. Dont ask me how it just did. Thats how it works.
