Being banned from everywhere in town(practically)

After the "Suckfest" fiasco and being banned from
practicly everywhere in my small little town,
here is a list of places we cannot play in! 1. My
house (noise violation) 2. Anyone's house (noise
violation) 3.Parks (500 dollar insurance) 4.
Armory (500 dollar insurance) 5. Q-104 radio (too
vulgar) 6. The Chenowith Grange (500 dollar
insurance, because we look funny) 7. All local
insurance companies (because we play punk rock)
8. Putting up posters on street posts (city
ordanance) 9. Any Parks and Rec venue (500 dollar
insurance)
Pretty much, since we cannot afford 500 dollar
insurance while in school and having no job, and
the fact that it's impossible to get in The
Dalles, OR, saying "umm, you need insurance" is
french for, "No, you play punk rock." I also
encourage you to find a curse word in our lyrics,
it's impossible. Small town politics RULE! So
basicly, we've been religated to one venue left
in town, and maybe the two other granges if they
don't find out we're funny looking....It was
still a good show, even if we did get banned from
the venue less than a week after it ended lol!

Popdem, anytime we get near an election, we get a
series of pontifications.
Hey, the landlord gets to choose. Bottom line.
There is no inalienable right to being able to
play on someone else's property. Landowning
makes people into music critics, whatcha gonna
doooo?
They do the same insurance for city parks here
(NYC) for the very same reason. Insurance. In
case a stage dive goes wrong or some prominent
family's teenage fan suffers alcohol poisoning.
I think it's the law system's culpability more
than everyone's favorite bugaboo, Dubya.
/for the record, I ain't voting for Dubya

Ya it's just weird, because A. We said no
alchahol(there was a little anyway as one could
expect) B. I live in a town of 11,000 people,
how crazy could it get? C. 500 dollars is an
insane amount to pay for a free concert when the
average annual income of a studant in my town is
1000 dollars. and lastly D. Even if we COULD get
together enough money to buy insurance for a
concert with less than 400 people, it's
impossible to get in my town because all the
insurance companies either don't carry it, or the
franchise wont let them sell to punk rock bands.
To the other guy, it has somewhat to do with
George Bush even though he's not directly
involved, because the people who suddenly
"require" insurance are mostly middle-aged,
white, born again conservative christians much
like Bush, and they don't like the style of music
generally because most of everything a
conservative does not like was at that concet.
Everything from Lesbians to Liberals lol
Granted there were other factors other than "the
man" putting us down, alot of it had to do with
"the machine" aka burocracy and politics. Which
is one reason i love the band that rages against
it so much!
But ya know, conservatives and liberals are not
going to see eye to eye on practicly anything for
a while, but the only thing I wish for, is that
both parties at least agree to not try and
supress what the other is saying. I'm not
against conservatives, i don't perticularly like
what they believe in, but the point is the should
have the right to state their opinion free of
road blocks, and so should liberals. If they
wanna chant that god told them to go to war, then
i better damn well be able to bitch about my
"bleedin' heart" love of the environment and
social rights for gays. lol As a side note I
like christians too, I'm one myself, I just don't
like it when they try to push it on other people,
or try to justify killing other people on behave
of it.
Lastly, I just feel oppressed because before this
concert, "Suckfest," got under the skin of
conservative parents in the town there was no
need for insurance, but almost immediatly after
we started planing year 3 of it, we got slapped
in the face with the whole insurance thing and
being banned from the local radio station.
