I have A ludwig wood snare evans genera dry
batter head and a ludwig resonant and i cant tune
my snare at all any tips

yes, it is hard at first but you will get used to
it. Just use the drum key on the first nob, then
go accross the drum to the other one right
accross from it, then do the same thing untill it
is hard all around the out side of drum. Hit your
stick along the outside of the head and if there
is a different sound in one area. then that needs
to be tuned more.

Sometimes snares just suck. The head that you
have makes a huge difference in the sound. I'd
recommend REMO Ambassador heads for your music,
but it's all a matter of preference in the end.
Then follow the steps that fogotten ryan was
takling about, except start but hand tightening
each lug from completely loose to where you just
cant turn it any more. Then, do maybe 1 full turn
on each lug, going around and across. Test the
drum after each tightening. Continue until you
have a sound you like. At a certain point you can
tighten the life out of it, but sometimes it's
nice to just get that high crack. Others the
fatty low. Just try to make sure the pitch of
each lug is the same when tapped about 2 inches
from the lug.
