How to make an open hihat sound cut off when a closed hihat is triggered?

This is a primary requirement for realistic drum
machine sounds. The open hihat sound should of
course "choke" and cut out when the closed hihat
is hit. Is there a way to implement this effect
in FL 5? My closed and open hihat samples don't
match exactly but this effect could still help.

if you use the drumsynth plugin, it will do that
automatically,
is drumsynth in 5.0?

in the sampler box click the misc tag.
you should see it say "cut" and "cut by". now
this is the important bit. make sure your closed
hihat and open hihat have the same number in both
those boxes. any random number that hasn't been
used yet. i usually use 6. (or 5 if i'm feeling
odd). now when you play a closed hihat sample it
will stop the open hihat sample from playing.
tada.
