Fruity Loops
Midi routing
kerova

Hello there. I`m slighlty new with FL 5 and quite
lost at using the MIDI capabilities. I import a
MIDI file, and it displays correctly on different
MIDI channels, one for each instrument. I managed
to assign them(in the MIDI settings window) to
the basic General Midi setup, which plays
successfully. Now, since I`m using an M audio
delta 1010 which supports VSti, I`d like to route
the MIDI tracks into some VSti instruments. More
or less expectably, they dont show in the output
port mapping, althogh I can open a dedicated
chanel for all my VSti instruments. Secondly, and
here I think I`m missing FL`s essence, I don`t
find a way to route any channel into any other.
So if I do open a VSt channel and throw a few
notes in it, and then I fancy changing the
instrument (say Artist drums for groove agent), I
have to completely delete the first channel (or
disable it), coping the contect from the piano
roll and pasting it onto the new instrumet`s
window I want to try, and repeat the procedure
until I strike the one I like. It seems very
unorthodox, or I`m just not getting the point of
FL???? Would much appreciate a hand on this topic
which is stopping me from giving the world some
music!! Many thanks!

Your first problem may be with the delta 1010.
Though i cant help you with it, google searches
for problems with the delta 1010 may be more
helpful than FL problems - just a guess...
As for new sounds to each track, you can simply
drag and drop a new preset to the channel instead
of assigning the sound to a new channel then
copying.
Hope this helped!
