Is this possible for performing live?

VampiricYouth	Date: July 11, 2007 @ 4:02 PM I have a few Psytrance tracks I'd like to perform live at a small venue, I was thinking that a good way to do this would be to have all my patterns pre-programed but my playlist empty, except for basic elements like bass and a kick, I would then play and build up all the patterns blocks of the song in real time, this is actually creating something on stage which is more than can be said for a lot of Performing Artists in Psytrance and would also allow me control over the elements in the track, so I can mix things up a bit. The only problem I imagine running into would be on RAM heavy tracks that cause crackles and numerous underruns which would just mess up the track, making it play noisly and choppily. Is there anyway FL can be made to render the project patterns, all the midi and effects so that one can simply build up a playlist (without messing around with new midi or effects)without having any underruns or choppy performance?
VampiricYouth	Date: July 12, 2007 @ 7:41 AM My mistake, just realised there's a Live Mode for doing exactly that ONLY thing I don't like about that is sometimes I can't really remember the structure of my song well enough and there's no real reference because the playlist will be empty, however I will probably leave Kick, Bass, Crash and Percussion so I have a skeletal structure to fill up.

Date: July 13, 2007 @ 3:45 PM Ableton Live 6 is amazing for performing live, you can drag and drop clips right into a set in realtime and set up your clips in the session view and trigger them by keys or MIDI controller. It has gazillions of cool things such as Beat Repeat and filters that can be triggered in real time or set to do random stuff. This is why Live has been the favourite tool for DJs and performing electronica artists etc for the past 3-4 years.
VampiricYouth	Date: July 16, 2007 @ 8:20 AM When performing live, if you feel like writing a new melody on the fly, is it possible to kind of play around with some notes and only hear them through a pair of headphones before you decide whether or not you want to add it to the track that's being played through main speakers? (Kind of like cueing a sound before adding it to the mix) Does software like Ableton allow something like that? (if it makes sense) or is your audience going to hear every thing you do, whether a complete fuck-up or not? (So it's better to not try write a synth line on the fly unless you know exactly what you're doing?
iamseymour	Date: October 3, 2007 @ 2:32 PM I have an old ableton version, so cant comment on the ableton hes on about (mine is basic drag and drop sample matching) but I have done a live show with fruityloops. I basically had every song as one epic pattern, and would flick between channels with each pattern, switching patterns to switch tunes. LOTS OF COPYING AND PASTING and seriously fiddly, but it worked.
LiQuidMetamo...	Date: October 3, 2007 @ 10:53 PM Live is a better tool for performance and has better warping plus more flexibility for MIDI. The only other serious contender for Live performance would be Project 5 by Cakewalk and although it has improved somewhat and is endorsed by one or two big names such as Public Enemy, it lacks quite a few features. Fruity Loops is a decent program and is fine for creating music, but it doesn't have the flexibility of Live for Live performance because it is a linear DAW like Cubase, Logic, Sonar etc where everything is based on a timeline. orgasmotron	Date: October 18, 2007 @ 12:36 AM about the writing melodys on the fly thing: you would need a special sound card with two outputs, one master and one cue for headphones, if you have that you should be able to do what your describing in most software.
