Gear Up
Syncin' software

Has anyone had any luck syncing audio programs on
one PC? A while back I got MIDI Yoke and got
Cakewalk, Reason and Acid syncing. But it was
pathetic. I had better luck back in the day with
a 4-track and FSK.
My ideal setup would be to sync acid and Sonar
but I can't get it to happen to a workable
degree.
Should I just settle on one program? I can't do
MIDI in Acid (not even 4.0) an I really don't
want to have to start making rex files of all my
loops so I can use Sonar by itself?
What am I missing? Any clues? Thanks.

Maybe this kind of thing works better on a Mac.

yeah,.... i was just thinking to myself your
first bet might be to get your hands on a
mac.... overall there isn;t much differance these
days when it comes to mac or pc... unless your
doing music... tbut i have never met anyone who
hasn;t had problems with it

what do you mean by syncing? I used acid to make
a hip hop dj style mix. It worked out ok. Sounds
great but not as innovative as with actual
turntables and a whole lot more work. That
probably doesn't help for midi. i mean what are
you trying to do with the music?

maybe it's in your approach... the only way I can
see to effectively do this would be to
import/export to a common format... i.e. if you
wanna add a sound or effect from a certain
program that isn't able to use common plugins
(like im pretty sure soundforge and cooledit can
use directx plugins, but fruityloops and
hammerhead cannot). One way to do it would be to
export wherever you up to into a wave file...
load this into the program with different
sounds... make a track of whatever you had in
mind... export just the new effects into a new
wave file... load back into original mixing
program, check/adjust sync (usually not
required)
Hope this helps
