I'm getting sick of my guitar. What should I get now?

Alstroph	Date: January 5, 2006 @ 12:48 PM Here's the thing. I have a Jackson Performer Flying V. It's great.. but it gets beaten up easily... and it's a pain to sit down and record with. I'm absolutely sick of it. What is a good all around guitar? I do funk, Blues, jazz, metal, rock... anything. I'm looking to spend 400-600 dollars. Maybe more... but probably not less.
GeneHilbert	Date: January 5, 2006 @ 1:04 PM Performers are nice guitars - that is what I’m wearing in the picture with Bob West. I replaced the pickups because they were shit, but it sits well and plays well. Most all my recordings are done with that guitar. So maybe get another body style. There are a ton of stores in Portland, Friendly River in Cornish is where I always went. I guess John still owns - who knows now. I don't recommend ebay or mail order for something as personal as a guitar. Just look around - everyone makes good and not so good instruments, so I would keep an open mind and see what you come across.

Alecs	Date: January 5, 2006 @ 1:39 PM Check out the 7-string on my page Ibanez RG1527. $820 on most places, but I managed to squease it outta a local store for $750. It's honestly the best guitar I've ever played, and I've played just about every type of guitar out there.

Alecs	Date: January 5, 2006 @ 7:16 PM Eh dude the RG series is better, I gotta say, especially for shred. More frets, more stable tremelo. It's just straight out BETTER.
Alstroph	Date: January 5, 2006 @ 7:27 PM I get the feeling that Epiphone is kinda cheap... so i dunno if I'd ever buy one. Currently I'm thinking Jackson, BC Rich, Gibson, or maybe Ibanez. I'm really thinking for a Gibson flying v. Those are great and would be easier to sit and play than a jackson.

Alstroph	Date: January 6, 2006 @ 1:52 PM Well MY flying V is a pain to record with. Though I realize the irony.... See on my v if you sit down there's only one semi-comfortable way to hold it, and when i do the patch chord drives into my leg... and now the little jack is breaking... among with countless patch chords. The Gibson V is made differently, and it would be easier to rest on my leg... not to mention the jack isn't poorly placed.
