Good Guitar Effects?

I had an old Digitech gsp21 that just took a
dump..
New fuse..yea! Whoa..
well..it's now a
smoke machine.
So I shopping and I'm looking at all the floor
models/table models and I'm thinking...what
happened to all the rack effects?
I plan on recording direct to a yamaha
aw1600-DAW,not-computer connected.
I have been looking at these..
Line6-POD,Korg-ax3000g,Digitech-GNX3,Vox-tonelab.
Most of the units come with some form of
Distortion but...
To add some extra distortion,I'm thinking about
adding a Digitech-DF7 pedal.
My question,Anybody use any of those effects?
What effect do you use to record direct?
Mic'n a 4x12 stack or two loaded with effects
turned up loud always sounds better, moves more
air,and vibrates the guitar..
But thats not an option in my recording area.

I have some old rack gear – (Roland GS-6,
Ensoniq DP/2, ADA Microcab 2 but I never use it
for guitar anymore.
I also have 2 Pod Pro racks, - they are good and
pricey but good sounds. The Johnson J-Station is
surprisingly good for the price. I have an older
Digitech RP100 but the sound is just too flat and
lifeless.
I'm using my Cyber-Twin exclusive now - pricey
but "WOW" what a sound.

I've used nothing but line 6 for years nnow and
swear by them.
They're more of an amp modeling processor rather
than just an effect unit, and I found they work
much better on their own than plugged into other
amps.

Screw digital effects processors... I used to
have a roland-me-10, and when that died, I was
devastated. Now days, I think that buying old,
unique sounding pedals is the go... that way, if
one dies, it's only part of your sound that needs
to be replaced. And they are far more versatile
