favorite way to record guitar

Snoogans775	Date: January 5, 2007 @ 1:11 AM for koostiks, I like to put a contact mic on the back of the guitar with a big diaphragm condenser on the front, gets rid of the boominess. and I really haven't figured out a really good way to record electrics, being that my amp is totally useless as it is noisy as a dog with bronchitis. I mostly just set my multi-fx to line(headphones), and record straight out fo that.
leedsquietman	Date: January 5, 2007 @ 2:15 AM Electrics - use a Shure SM57 or similar mic placed near a nice amp set to your favourite tone settings etc. !! Or use a direct box and amp modelling software such as Toneport or Steinberg Warp VST etc.
MindSculpture	Date: January 5, 2007 @ 8:07 AM For acoustic - I use a condenser mic about 2-3 feet away. For electric I will either DI from POD to PC or mic up my amp. Depends on the sound I am looking for.
Tallisman	Date: January 5, 2007 @ 9:30 AM I don't even play guitar, and I have my favourtite ways: acoustic: 3 mics pencil on 11th fret + Pencil or L-Diaphragm on the tone whole + pencil / L-diaphragm beside the players right ear aimed down. The third is used to sweeten the sound if the player doesn't like the blend achieved with the other two. electric: I like to split the signal and if possible: Direct out of the amp as well as a 57 on the amp I have had great success in the past re-amping a dry signal within context.
zedsalt	Date: January 5, 2007 @ 10:43 AM For a really big, rich acoustic sound, I like to point a small diaphragm condenser at the 14th fret or so, about three or four inches from the neck, and DI a magnetic soundhole pickup, run the two tracks hard stereo.
