Help
DMusic radio / playlists
sturges
Date:

Hey,
I'm new here, and have searched through the help
to find out how music is selected for radio /
playlists here at DMusic. I can't seem to find
anything...
How are artists / tracks selected?
Also, the radio links on the main index page
aren't working for me (probably addressed in the
forums, but I can't find it).
Any info?
Again, sorry if this is posted somewhere - I've
really searched to try to find out.
Thanks, all! Love DMusic - this site is
fantastic!!!

The following 2 paragraphs I've copied and pasted
from the
section of the site pertained
specifically to the DM Picks but will influence
the decision of those of us who compile playlists
for the
stations. Otherwise it is just down to
the taste of the individual compiler and requsts
/ suggestions from users such as yourself
What is the “Bin”?
The Bin is the section where all new music
uploaded to DMusic goes.
How does an artist move from the “Bin” to become
a “DM Pick”?
Quality, popularity, and/or continued site
interaction are the keys to becoming a DM Pick.
It’s as simple as that. Recording quality music
is always the best way to become a Pick.
Developing a site following with your music is
also a good way to become a Pick. Finally, when
the community is aware of you and it becomes
known that you have a certain spark, gusto, zest,
or personal appeal, the administration becomes
aware of you. Any of these will often result in
becoming a DM Pick.
Hope that answers your question. As for your
streaming problem: I haven't got a
I know as
much about those sort of things as Anna Nicole
Smith does about subtlety!
Could it be that
you're on dial-up? I know this is the kind of
thing that Cryxan could deal with. However I do
believe that streaming issues have been addressed
in the
Forums previously. Maybe you can find the
answer you're looking for there
Glad you enjoy the site!

Hey,
Thanks for the information!! Sorry I missed it
in the documentation....
Yeah, for the radio, when I click HiFi, I'm taken
to:
http://files.dmusic.com:8002/listen.pls
...which gives me a page cannot be displayed
standard style error.
Probably a client problem on my side, or maybe
it's a security issue blocking the 8002 port?
As for my internet, I'm on cable with about 3 Mb
transfer rate - it zooms.
I'll dig around in the forums - I'm sure it's in
there somewhere.
Thanks so much for your help!!!! Much
appreciated!!!!!

I see what you mean... it seems there is a glitch
in the link... possibly it's been moved.
For now, I'd just pick a genre that you wish to
listen to in that drop down list (just below the
links you were clicking on)

Thanks! Yeah - I couldn't figure it out...
WinAmp's my main player, and I tried drag-n'-drop
into it... nothing happened...
Thanks for the tip! (didn't try that)
