windows virtual memory

is there a way to enlarge windows virtual
memory, and if so, where and how?

sure... under xp, you can get to it 2 ways....
either open the start menu and right click on "My
Computer" and click "Properties"
Or the other way to get to the system controls,
is to go to "Control Panel" and double click
"System"
In both cases, once you are here, in the System
Properties window, there is a Tag at the top
called "Advanced"... go here
Next under performance, click "Settings" and
again The "Advanced" tag.
At the bottom should be your Virtual Memory
options.... Personally, I suggest leaving these
options alone, but if you must tinker with it,
write down the settings before proceeding, and
the general rule of thumb is the initial size
should be one and a half times the size of your
ram, and the maximum size should be about 3 times
the size of your ram.
It may be a far safer option to go back to the
performance options menu, and select one of the
configurations that takes load off your system,
such as choosing the performance configuration
over fancy menus.
