Apertome	Date: October 12, 2003 @ 10:26 PM Good points, teknokimono, however: 1. To completely boycott the RIAA, yes, people would have to do as you state above. It's certainly not impossible to do so. But the point is, I think, to send as little money as possible to the RIAA. You can still boycott them pretty effectively simply by spending LESS money on their products, not necessarily none at all. You can weigh your desire for the products with your desire to boycott the RIAA. Personally, I buy some RIAA products, but only those I feel I must have -- which isn't much. It's not a black and white issue, necessarily. 2. You are right, this impacts the RIAA artists. 3. Artists choose to let the RIAA take a lot of their money; in so doing, they also choose to be potential targets of RIAA boycotts. 4. Hurting RIAA artists by boycotting the RIAA will probably be good thing in the long run -- it should affect future artists' decisions as to whether or not to sign to an RIAA label. And where would the RIAA be without artists?

PhantomGhost	Date: December 5, 2003 @ 12:40 AM The RIAA is definitely evil- but companies like Ebay, Amazon.com, Warner Brothers STUDIOS- they haven't done anything to seriously hurt consumers. Why, amazon.com is one of the most consumer friendly companies I know. Not only do they listen to their customers, but they have a great return service, their packages always come on time, they offer tracking, you can read other customers' advice, and you don't have to leave your home. Amazon.com is a good, respectable company. Now, as to organizations that oppose the RIAA. There are too many to count. But the EFF (www.eff.org/) and Boycott RIAA (www.boycott-riaa.com, affililated with DMUSIC) are the places to start. Do an internet search: anti-RIAA on Google. Then you can build yourself a real list. :-:~ PhantomGhost
