I have been doing a bunch of covers lately
because I just cant seem to get real creative.
Anyone have this problem? What do you do to get
the music flowing again?

Engage in/experience other kinds of art
(painting, poetry, etc.).
Try to do something with your music that you've
never done before. For example, when the last
"real" band I was in got in a rut, we wrote down
styles of music we didn't usually play and songs
we didn't particularly like on chits and drew out
one of each. Our oompah band version of "Stand By
Your Man" wasn't good for much beyond a good
laugh, but it got the juices flowing again.
Take a little break from making music. If you're
not under contract to come up with new stuff at a
certain rate or anything, just get away from it
for a bit.
A new tool/toy for creating music always give me
a boost, too.
