HELP! The BEST way to record onto my PC

machinehead5	Date: March 19, 2005 @ 7:30 AM I play a 5 String bass... i need to know the best way to record my playing onto my PC. Now i have a pretty cool WAV editor that came with my sound drivers, i dont know what its called. Point is when i play my bass and set the mic up in front of the amp... or any speeker for that matter, theres this loud anoying BZZZZZZZZZZZ all the way through.... sometimes its so loud u cant really enjoy the sounds intended. Look, what i need is an idea here, or just tell me what works for you? Name programs for sale.... shortcuts... anything... bring in the good ideas! Thanks
pog	Date: March 19, 2005 @ 5:25 PM One of the most overlooked source of the buzz is because you are using a pickup close to electrical devices.... try this. Prepare for recording, and place the m ouse over the start recording button. Turn off your monitor. Press the m ouse button so that it starts recording. Record your track. Use a keyboard stop recording hotkey such as space when you're finished. Turn back on your monitor. Hope this helps.
DiSound	Date: March 26, 2005 @ 8:48 AM I recomend to plug-in your guitar bass directly into your personal computer into "Line-In" titeled hole on your sound card. Record all you want, then process wav file with some Tube-Amp-modeling and speaker-modeling software to get great realistic bass, you can take several freeware from http://guitar-software.info
Jiri1	Date: March 26, 2005 @ 5:06 PM You can also remove the buzz, using apps like Adobe Audition. You sample a bit of the noise, then remove it from the rest of the wave. It works great.
Gmonk	Date: March 28, 2005 @ 10:30 AM Nope... Line in on a soundcard will not work well with a bass guitar signal. Purely coz its not a line level signal. You need to attenuate it if you want to use a line level signal. Use a pre-amp or a DI box. (Di being the cheaper option) Also remvoing buzzes etc post recording is NEVER a good idea as you will end up removing not just noise but also bits of the signal you want to keep. Concentrate on getting a goood sound first. Also, you need to record with as hot a level as possible to minimize the effects of the noise floor. G
noimportantone	Date: April 5, 2005 @ 4:59 PM Get a Firepod the are awesome, come with 48 track cubase and a waranty. The cost about $600.00 bucks. It has 8 bad ass mic pres and connects via Firewire.
