Program to make beats

What is a good program I can get for free or
relatively cheap that I can use to make beats? I
had a free version of protools but I couldn't
mkae head nor tails out of it

I would have to say if you want a cool drum
machine, then check out hammerhead rhythm station
at ...

imho that it is a really really really cool free
drum machine.
you can import samples into it to give you an
extra 6 "user" sounds, and you can even get 3
whole drumsets for it (it's a bit fiddley
changing the overall drumsets, but it is a neat
addition) you can even make your own "userbanks".
The only thing that is debatable about it is the
fact that it uses lower quality raw files,
however this isn't really that noticable to me.
personally i think it's a must have. If you wist
to learn more about using the program, just note
me, and I'd be glad to give you a few pointers.

fruity loops is pretty easy and you can find it
on kazaa

Fruityloops isn't a drum machine, it's a
sequencer, with drums, synths, and effects
processors. Also, it's not free. It is however,
substantially cheaper than reason. I export waves
from hammerhead to fruityloops often.

i use madtracker2 u can find it on

it's a free program and i love it... i also use
other programs too like fruityloops, but only for
the sampz you can get out of them synts. Wavelab
to record my beatz (bcuz in the demo version of
madtracker wave-export iz not included) and WAVES
gold bundle plug-ins
