Hey I want to learn some of that stuff. I don't
really need to play it practically so I can't
really get a proper feeling with it. I can play
quite quickly and can sweep pick arpeggios a
little. But it is still in its early stages.
Could you recomend some bands. I have a John
Petrucci book and a troy Stetina book but I think
I need to start listening and practising shred
music. I would like to be able to do it even
though I am a Hendrix man really. I'll listen to
your stuff later I can't right now check out my
thing. It is basically electric blues. I wouldn't
learn some shred. To Shred properly you have to
be really good other wise it sound fakes. Which
is what put me off shred. However I think John
Petrucci is really good. However I don't think he
improvises his stuff and Improvisation is really
important to me.

Thanks man, I'll record some shred for you later.
I'm probably more of a Satriani shred man though
just because of my style.

I'm listening to euphoria now. You've been
playing for the same time as me thats pretty
impressive. I've branched more into blues. I
would like to learn scales of how to play metal
sounding stuff. I just have no experience with
them. You are really quite advanced for 1 and
half year from listening to "solo". Sweep
picking, tones of arpeggio's, leggato, trill,
pinch harmonics, chromatic runs. I can only just
play Erruption. You have a little Malmsteen in
you don't you he is annoying but he is good at
technical sides of things.. Do you have any tips
for me? I think I just need to start listening to
a bit of metal and so have a reason to play I
think.
I got to a point in blues where I found that
everything I played sounded the same which I've
got over now interesting chords help your
creativity loads Petrucci is good listen to him.
There is also something wrong with your tone. If
it is your microphone try out a digital one I got
one for £60 which is really good. If you check my
track the tone is very clean how I like it
through that microphone. My Jackson DK2S also has
a lovely tone. However I think you are very
talented keep it up much better than me at some
things. Fur elise should have been played clean.
Playing clean is very important I think and also
getting different styles going. If you use
distortion to much you can not articulate note
properly. Petrucci plays distorted with someone
playing clean as well so he get definition in the
chords. He is a little to complex though at
times. Less is better a lot of the time.
