If the record companies were to open up their
music library, allow down loads for .25 cents,
the download would includ a joint licence to make
copies from your computer for your use. Next you
have a shared file where this download is stored
and made available. Each time a file is
downloaded from your computer a new joint
licence between the new download sight and the
original sight of issued. You are payed 5 cents
for your part in the transaction(use of your
computer), the new download sight is charged 25.
cents, the record companies make 20. cents, this
process goes on and on, collection, payment and
control of this system can be a whole new
subject.

I don't see that happening. Right now the RIAA
and other big wigs have things sewn up so that
"fair use" is gone. They even tried to keep
songwriters from keeping their copyrights. THey
way I see it, is that musicians have to rebell
again the system that is screwing them. Until
they do that (including the big names) things
will continue as they are...the digital
revolution in music will continued to get
trounced on, as RIAA members continue to refuse
to let people have legal mp3s of anything (very
few are out there and you can't make our own and
stay within the law)...the demand will keep an
underground going, but acting as a distributer
for their music? Nope....
At this rats It would be more likely for them to
come up with their own mp3 like format. One that
automatically degrades (like jpg graphics only
worse) so that a copy of a copy is less and less
dinstinct...maybe even one that degrades every
time you play it so that they can force peope to
buy the same music again and again. Image that
idea (don't thin it hasn't been thought of for a
minute)...that just like an old record on a bad
player, your digital file gets "scratched" and
you have to buy a new one.
I should not give them ideas.
