Something To Last

A track that I put up a few weeks ago that I want
some thoughts on.
Since I can't be as interactive in forums as I
would like to be.
I have been striving to find better ways of
recording, and this recording is in a 192 bit
stream to hopefully show the quality of the
recording for the best as I can.
I want to learn how to songwrite above all, but
the best recorded representation of that
definately can't hurt.
Would love some good constructive thoughts of
this song, or if this is okay the way it is.
The song is about how globalism has affected the
marketplace as well as dreams:
SOMETHING TO LAST
All through life
Something is waiting by the door
All hearts are stained
And in thinking of what's in store
Thinking in the past
Of something to last
All of my youth
Steel factories, pride and grace
All darkened over
Seen in old scars on the elders face
Thinking of the past
Of something to last
Of what's in the gloom
Stands a flicker of light
Old memorials
Past dreams that come to light
Of what was meant to be
Another finds the key
So many places
I hav'nt been to, I want to see
Many dark ghettos
All the past dreams of what to be
Thinking in the past
Of something to last
All through life
Something is waiting by the door
All hearts are stained
And in thinking of what's in store
Thinking in the past
Of something to last
All of my youth
Steel factories, pride and grace
All darkened over
Seen in old scars on the elders face
Thinking of the past
Of something to last
Of what's in the gloom
Stands a flicker of light
Old memorials
Past dreams that come to light
Of what was meant to be
Another finds the key
So many places
I hav'nt been to, I want to see
Many dark ghettos
All the past dreams of what to be
Thinking in the past
Of something to last

The first verse is repeated here for some reason.
Although it is not in the song.
Sorry for the confusion in that.
There is not an edit command here.

Make that the entire lyrics repeated twice.
Don't know what is causing that since that is not
the case in my wordpad.
Oh well, you get the lyrics twice.

Alan Greenspan was on Charlie Rose's show
recently, and he said that the foreign
outsourcing of jobs was GREAT for the economic
health of the average worker in those areas where
the greatest number of jobs were lost.
What they say about his genius must be right, and
I must a complete idiot regarding economics, as I
can't make one bit of sense out of what he said.

I also saw one of those commercials on how
Walmart is all so much helping communities.
Looks good, sounds good, and if I really needed
the job, I would probably swallow my pride and
lurk my butt in that local Walmart asking for a
job.
I still remember though at the tail end of the
steel factories up to where I live (Duluth, MN)
before jobs became mainly service jobs.
I guess it's called progress.
Whatever it is, it sure bites just the same.
