direct vs mic recordings

Now, I know my soundcard isn't a recording card, but, like I said, saving up some $ to get a better one. I suppose M-Audio Audiophile 2496.

Now I'm wondering:
1) Will the Audiophile 2496 produce significant improvement in quality over my Audigy?

2) Will mic'ing the amp produce clearer sound than direct?

I just made my 1st recording and posted it, so, have a listen to determine the quality and what the potential for improvement is.
