Do I need a multi tracker? for my studio? If I
want to record songs.

It certainly would be helpful to have one if you
want to do any multi tracking.

Might also help to outline what you already have
in terms of PC and/or studio gear

It's not an absolute necessity, I suppose, but
there is SO much fun to be had with a
multitracker! Even if you're only recording
"live", having...say...your voice and an acoustic
guitar on separate, discrete tracks opens up all
kinds of possibilities.
And y'know, people just aren't accustomed to
hearing recordings of one voice without any kind
of (at least) doubling. If you're liking what
you're hearing in the room much, much more than
what you're hearing on playback, a lack of
"fleshing out" may be the problem.

If you like what you hear in the room but dislike
what you hear in the recording, try different
things to get better at recording.
