Vocal damage?

Some considerations are that he's singing well with in his comfortable range(G n'R wrote around this range) and that signature 'rasp' is a natural, colorful addition to a fundamentally sound and professionally trained voice. I've damaged my vocal chords from years of singing(screaming) incorrectly. To this day, I struggle to produce full, clean notes and i'm stuck with having to write around a now, very limited range. ~My
ThreeSixtyFive	Date: February 19, 2005 @ 2:24 AM I will tell you this ... you have to train your voice to sing a diff way , now im not saying that you sing like GNR 1 time it will screw you but your vocal chords, if they are accustomed to it, will do fine but even then Axel Rose is not actually screaming , I had read a article on "Rock Singers" a while back and they sing in a controlled pitch I think its called instead of screaming like Fear had said it is a type of Rasp to your voice . But anyhow maybe that may help some what ?
zedsalt	Date: February 19, 2005 @ 11:03 AM That rasp has to come from your chest, NOT your throat. It's tough to describe how to do it, because it's a matter of physical memory (like how to belch on purpose). A good vocal coach could probably give you some sort of exercise to do that would develop a good rasp that won't do you any damage.

A cover should either be a tribute a piss take aor simply to show people how you would have performed the song and how you would have written it. If you're tryin to sound like Axl Rose doing a GnR cover don't no one can sing like Axl Rose just like no one can sing like me singing my own songs (not that its any good) its just people sohuldnt make a mockery of it unless its a bad song.
